When I went down to Laois with Yvonne this past weekend, I ended up having a few hours to myself in Portlaoise, so I went and explored a cemetery called, I think, The Ridge. Yvonne's parents thought I was insane to spend my time this way, but it was SO COOL:

I mean, look at it!

Shortly after I got back to Dublin, an Easter package arrived from my parents. So here's a bonus photo:

Graveyards and bunnies
I LOVE graveyards, especially when they're, shall we say, oddly situated. This one gets an 8.5--nice.

I'm glad the bunny has made friends so quickly. But he's not retarded--he's just "special."

8.5, eh? Darn. Shoulda stuck my landing.

I blame Rodney McKay for the reintroduction of the word "retarded" into my vocabulary--part of me still flinches in PC-horror whenever I use it. But it is used with nothing but affection, so...

P.S.
What about the bogs? Were there any bog people? Or were they just turf bogs, with those big cake slices cut out? Or, possibly, quaking bogs, where the ground shivers under your feet?

Into bogs,

We couldn't actually go out onto the bogs because it's dangerous at this time of year. We walked along the Bog Road and saw the run off ditches until we literally had to turn around because it became impassable. It was odd.

And yes, Yvonne's family cuts turf every year.

monkey + bunny + cemetery
Dear Anna.

Don't you think Olive should be wedged between Monkey and Bunny? I've taught her to sit still and pretend she's stuffed. She can only manage it for about three seconds.

Love the hillside cemetery. Gives one a whole new perspective on death. People might behave better if they were constantly confronted with gravestones.

Thanks for the update. We so enjoy tales of your travels. Can't wait to see you!!!

Love,
Auntie D
